Yes child, enjoy your naive appreciation of life’s novelty. Soon you will grow and so will your disdain for this banal existence you once considered beautiful. [Яolcats]

My Own Private Landscape

My Own Private Landscape on Vimeo.

The beauty of My Own Private Idaho’s landscape shots always struck me as breathtaking.

This video explores every shot of Idaho’s and Rome’s landscape scenery in a chronological order as depicted in the movie. It was completed with Mike’s (River Phoenix) monologues in the beginning and at the end.

Courage is that rare moment of unity between conscience, fear and action when something deep within us strikes the flint of love, of honor or duty to make the spark that fires our resolve. it’s the moment - however brief or singular - when we are our complete best self, when we know with an almost metaphysical certainty that we are right. Eve the Savior

This Yom Kippur Rabbi Harold Kushner’s little book How Good Do We Have to Be? reminds us that, while we do wrong, God doesn’t expect us to be perfect and neither should we. In an imaginative retelling of the story of Adam and Eve, Kushner presents it not as the fall, but as the birth of humanity as we were meant to be. God knew what we were. But He never abandoned that first couple or their descendants despite their flaws or ours. In this season, when Jewish worship is filled with reminders of our sins and our guilt, this book affirms our worth as human beings. There is a difference between guilt and shame. Guilt is healthy when we’ve done something wrong. Shame is destructive when it condemns us for what we are.

Yeah, that’s exactly how I take it. God set up that test for them to pass it. Without having curiosity they couldn’t have survived in the real world outside of that little bubble called Eden. Eve was the intelligent one and pathed their way out of that lethargic place into adulthood. Eve was Evolution.

Thanks Eve.

Rabbi Harry Danziger on the Daily Beast Board

Bob and Joanne Breiner returned home after dinner at a Chinese buffet. Bob Breiner went upstairs and found the man sound asleep in the couple’s bed, his pants and shoes on the floor. Police say the man had been drinking and accidentally went to the wrong house. The man apologized profusely and complimented the Breiners on their comfortable bed The Daily Beast - Week in Apologies
